Raster- the rectangular formation of parallel scanning lines that guide the electron beam on a television screen or a computer monitor.
Vector- geometrical primitives such as points, lines, curves, and shapes or polygon(s), which are all based upon mathematical equations, to represent images in computer graphics. The image uses plot points instead of pixels.
Bitmap- an image represented as a two dimensional array of brightness values for pixels.
Anti-aliasing- a process that smooths edges during the scanning capture process so that there is a more gradual pixel change than that which is being captured. The result is the final scanned image looks like the original rather than having a sharp contrast causing jagged lines.
Portable Document Format (PDF)- a file format created by Adobe Systems in 1993 for document exchange. It is used for representing two-dimensional documents in a manner independent of the application software, hardware, and operating system.
AI- Adobe Illustrator Artwork is a proprietary file format developed by Adobe Systems for representing single-page vector-based drawings in either the EPS or PDF formats.
SVG- Scalable Vector Graphics is an XML specification and file format for describing two-dimensional vector graphics, both static and dynamic (interactive or animated).
Adobe Photoshop- a graphics editing program developed and published by Adobe Systems. It is the current and primary market leader for commercial bitmap and image manipulation, and is the flagship product of Adobe Systems. It has been described as “an industry standard for graphics professionals” and was one of the early “killer applications” on the Macintosh.
“Save link as”- when you save an html source as a graphic

This past Christmas was a lot of fun. I went to several Christmas parties of friends. On Christmas Eve I attended midnight mass which was very joyful. Christmas morning is always the most exciting day of all. I love waking up to the smell of hot chocolate and chocolate fudge that my mom makes and then seeing so many presents under the Christmas tree. It is such a magical day because my family can all be happy together. I got pretty much every gift that I wanted. My biggest gift was a brand new, hot pink, 16GB ipod.
An ongoing tradition that my family has had every year since I have been born is going to the Trail of Lights in Zilker Park. Unfortunately this year is was insanely crowded and it was hard to walk around the trail and see the lights since it was packed so full of people. None the less I still had a lot of fun.
I wish it had been a little colder this year. Seventy to eighty degree weather just doesn’t seem like Christmas to me.
The most wonderful thing I did this Christmas was adopt a family for National Honors Society. The family was a cafeteria worker from McCallum raising her three grandchildren who are all in middle school. Her husband had just gotten laid off from work so they were only living on her salary. Mr. Ferguson helped up raise money to buy them gifts, a one-hundred gift card to H.E.B. and a one-hundred and fifty gift card to Target. Seeing the joy in their eyes when we gave them their gift was so moving. I am so glad that I was able to help someone else over the holidays.
